Commissions

Some pieces shouldn't come from a display case. If you want jewelry made from your horse's shoes or nails — or a one-of-a-kind design built around your ideas — that's what commissions are for.

What I Can Work From

Your horse's nails (recommended). Nails are what I recommend starting with: they're small enough to become rings, pendants, or earrings you can wear every day, and they carry the same story as the shoe they once held.

Your horse's shoe. Shoes are much more difficult to work with, so I take shoe-based commissions on a limited basis. If you have your heart set on a shoe, ask — we'll discuss what's possible.

My own collection. For the last ten years I've saved nails and shoes from most of the horses in my farrier practice. If I've been your farrier, I may already have nails from your horse. And for designs that don't need to come from one particular horse, I keep a large supply from horses I've known and worked with.

Design Possibilities

Every commission is a conversation, but here are combinations clients have loved:

  • A ring set with your horse's birthstone and your own, together in one setting
  • A gemstone chosen to match your horse's color
  • Stones representing your horse and your child, side by side
  • Memorial pieces from the nails of a horse who has passed

How It Works

  1. Reach out. Use my contact page or email me directly at hotfit@aol.com. Tell me about your horse, what materials you have (or whether I might already have them), and what you're imagining.
  2. We design together. We'll settle on the piece, stones, and details before any silver is poured.
  3. I quote the piece. Pricing depends on intricacy and materials — as a general guide, custom work runs 20–100% more than a comparable ready-made piece in the collection.
  4. I make it by hand. Allow at least six weeks from design to delivery; longer during the holiday season. Ordering for Christmas? Reach out by early fall.
  5. It ships insured via FedEx or UPS with tracking and signature confirmation.

Please note: because custom pieces are made just for you, they aren't returnable — but I work closely with you on the design, and if something isn't right, I'll make it right.
